Does l58AI need to download Dlabel to print?

If you’ve recently purchased our L58AI thermal printer or are considering it for your business, you may have wondered: “Do I need to download Dlabel to print with the L58AI?” The short answer is yes—but there’s an important detail to ensure smooth operation: your print commands must use the ESC/POS protocol. Let’s break this down to help you get the most out of your printer.

First, why is Dlabel necessary? Dlabel is our official companion software designed specifically for our thermal printers, including the L58AI. It provides essential drivers, user-friendly templates, and seamless connectivity options (whether via USB, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi) to bridge your device and the printer. Without installing Dlabel, the L58AI won’t recognize print commands from your computer, smartphone, or POS system, making it impossible to start printing.

However, simply installing Dlabel isn’t enough. The L58AI relies on the ESC/POS protocol—a universal standard for thermal printers—to interpret print commands. This protocol ensures compatibility with various operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android) and POS software. If your system uses a different protocol, the printer may not respond correctly, even with Dlabel installed.

To set up your L58AI successfully:

  1. Download and install the latest version of Dlabel from our official website.
  2. Ensure your POS software or application is configured to use the ESC/POS protocol.
  3. Follow the Dlabel setup guide to connect the printer via your preferred method (USB, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi).
